The meeting will include the discussion of and voting on of one amendment to the SHNA bylaws:

The amendment:

Under Article IV.A.1, change "October" to "January".

Commentary:

Per the IRS, our tax reporting period runs from January 1 to December 31. No other reporting cycle has ever been registered with the IRS for the entire existence of the SHNA 501(c)3. The impact is minimal right now with our relatively small annual budget, so let's eliminate the potential for confusion or errors with tax reporting, recording of minutes, etc. This should improve readability of reports for residents, as well, leveraging the common understanding of quarters of a calendar year. We are not yet at the scale where a non-calendar fiscal year would have discernable benefits for fundraising or related matters, and do not anticipate this changing anytime soon.

Per IV.A.2, how to transition the fiscal year to a calendar year is understood to be within the Treasurer's discretion to establish financial policies. The treasurer's opinion is that recasting FY 2024 as a calendar year is the easiest option, and it would take no more than an hour or two to update all reports.
